So here’s the second bib in a series of 3 boy bibs I’ve designed. A froggy! My son loves this bib because it’s bright and he loves to play with the frogs limbs. I love this bib because it’s big on him so when he inevitably spits up, it doesn’t get on his outfit!

Materials:
Lion Brand Cotton in lime green, white, and black.
Size F hook, Size H hook
Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations:
SC – Single Crochet
SC IN – Single Crochet Increase
CH – Chain
DC – Double Crochet
SS – Slip Stitch
HDC – Half Double Crochet
Head:
This is made in the round. At the end of each row, join with a SS
Magic Loop, 6 SC.
SC IN around.
(SC, SC IN) repeat around.
SC around
(2SC, SC IN) repeat around.
(3SC, SC IN) repeat around.
(4SC, SC IN) repeat around.
SC around. (36 stitches)
(5 SC, SC IN) repeat around.
(2 SC, SC IN) repeat around.
(3 SC, SC IN) repeat around.
SC around.
(4 SC, SC IN) repeat around
SC around. (84 stitches)
Fasten off.
Feet: (make 4)
CH 7
SC in 2nd loop, SC across
CH 1, turn.
SC across
CH 4
SC in 2nd loop, SC across
SC join in base of leg (the last stitch in the base that you made, you’re making the toes)
CH 4
SC in 2nd loop, SC across
SC join in middle of the end of the leg
Ch 4
SC in 2nd loop, SC across
SC join in bottom (last stitch in orig. chain)
SC across (to the base of the leg)
Fasten off.
Eyes: (make 2)
This is made in the round. At the end of each row, join with a SS
With Black yarn, magic loop 6 SC
6 SC IN (12 stitches)
join white yarn
(1 SC, SC IN) repeat around
(2 SC, SC IN) repeat around
(3 SC, SC IN) repeat around
Join Green yarn
HDC across
Fasten off.
Backing:
Using your H hook:
CH 27
DC in 3rd Ch from hook
*DC across, CH 3, turn (Repeat this 11 times, you have 12 rows)
*4 DC, CH 3, turn (You’re making the first strap. Repeat 11 times for 12 rows)
Fasten off.
Join with SS on other corner.
CH 3
*4 DC, CH 3, turn (You’re now making the second strap. Repeat 11 times for 12 rows)
Fasten off.
Border:
Draw up your green yarn in a bottom corner
SC around the edges
Fasten off.
Assembly:
Attach the eyes to the top of the big circle, as per the picture. Then Attach the limbs (2 on each side).
CH 14 for the mouth, leaving long ends to fasten it to the body.
For the nose, make a knot and thread it through on each side.
Now you’re ready to sew the froggy onto its backing! Line it up like in the picture. Add your button, and you’re done!
And my son was cooperative enough to model it for you!
